Helnwein has that ability to turn misunderstandings into more than confusion and come out on the other side with a great truth. He is one of those thinkers well thats how i percive him through his work. He is on a mission of political vandalism to right many wrongs, i dont feel he is taboo i feel he causes a certain taboo but lives within the margins not in danger but not free from harm, helnwein is a precious thought and a strong arm that somehow comforts me, i feel right when i see what he has done and i aim to match this but in my way on my terms, but helnwein has planted that seed that food for thought, helnwein is a thought and he manifests this through his work.

- Berthe a manqué sa chance -
Le baron s'ennuyait avec ses sempiternelles conquêtes, toutes créatures de choix. Blasé de ces mornes vénustés, il décida de séduire un laideron : la repoussante Berthe constitua sa plus odieuse idylle.
Elle le charmait avec ses maladresses, sa physionomie simiesque, ses allures grotesques, ses disgrâces divertissantes, sa sottise congénitale, son hymen sans intérêt.
Elle devint sa favorite. Le baron aimait s'afficher au château en si haïssable compagnie. Berthe était son bouffon. Jusqu'au jour où une fée aimable transforma le petit canard en cygne.
Berthe pris son envol, quitta le baron pour aller pondre un oeuf dans un nid autrement plus douillet. L'oiseau élu fut Monsieur le curé tout de noir vêtu. Un pieux bossu qui aima avec charité la belle Berthe, ex laideron.
Entre temps l'oeuf avait éclos. En sorti un baronnet à clochettes. On accusa le curé d'avoir engrossé la belle, anciennement laide. Il nia mollement, adopta le morveux à sonnettes et vécu longtemps avec l'argent des quêtes, la Berthe -qui avait été si peu plaisante jadis- , sa bosse et le bâtard à grelots qui fut finalement appelé "Gaspard".
Ce dernier devint bouffon officiel du roi vers l'âge de 47 ans.
La morale de cette histoire, c'est que les fées aimables devraient s'occuper du suivi de leurs protégés qui ne savent pas toujours tirer les meilleurs profits de leurs coups de baguettes.

Herr Helnwein, ich muss sagen, dass ich nur durch Neugier hier auf diese Webseite kam, nachdem ich mir das Artwork des aktuellen Marilyn Manson Album "The golden Age of Grotesque" angesehen habe. Ich staunte nicht schlecht, als ich erkannte, dass Sie es auch waren, der das Cover zu Westernhagens (eher mäßigen) "In den Wahnsinn" und zu zwei Rammsteinalben entworfen haben. Wow. Ich besitze 4 "echte" Helnweins! Also klickte ich mich durch ihre hochinteressante Webseite, mehr staunend als genießend, und bin auch heute, Tage später, immer noch begeistert. Was soll ich sagen? Ein großes Lob und meine Hochachtung. Viel Kreativität auch weiterhin.

Hello Helnwien,
Just wondering if you knew of an artist in Scotland called Stephen Campbell. I was working with him two weeks ago for my school and he reminded me of you. Tried to find info on him on the internet, not much as he is a very low key down to earth guy. Anyway still loving the work along with Joe Coleman and Austin Osman Spare. I've got to do an artist study in my art class, think ill do you if you dont mind.
P.S. Has anyone found out who the filmaker is in my poem

- Les deux pauvresses -
Deux soeurs mendiaient. L'une était laide comme un poux, sans grâce, vêtue de haillons. L'autre ressemblait à un papillon, et bien que sa toilette fût humble on sentait une recherche, un souci d'élégance dans sa tenue. De fait c'était une authentique vénusté sur laquelle les riches passants daignaient poser le regard, alors que l'autre, affligée d'une affreuse laideur et affublée de guenilles n'attirait nulle attention.
Je remarquai aussitôt les deux soeurs. Du haut de ma monture je m'adressai à la Vénus :
- " Gente demoiselle, venez chez votre sauveur chercher le gîte et le couvert. Je saurai également vous couvrir d'or et de dentelles si vous y consentez. Sous mon toit vous n'aurez qu'à exiger. Chez moi la beauté à tous les droits. Soyez dès à présent l'hôte de mon alcôve et votre fortune est faite ! "
La belle répondit :
- "Mon bon seigneur, ma soeur me suivra-t-elle ?
Je fus franc envers la jolie naïve :
- " Parce que votre soeur est laide, elle ne mérite que raillerie. Vous êtes belle, vous seule avez le droit d'hériter des biens de ce monde. La beauté doit être récompensée, la laideur châtiée sans pitié. Laissez là votre soeur, elle ne vaut guère plus que l'égout qu'elle côtoie.
L'ingénue de me tenir tête :
- " Cependant j'ai promis à mère de ne jamais abandonner ma soeur ! Noble seigneur, je vous en prie prenez ma soeur avec moi ou bien laissez-moi ! Jamais je ne l'abandonnerai à la misère ! "
Excédé par tant d'impudence, j'abrégeai la discussion en tendant le bras vers l'élue :
- " Il suffit avec ces tergiversions stériles ! Vos scrupules sont parfaitement déplacés. Laissez la fange à la fange et abandonnez-vous plutôt au sort qui vous sourit. Demain vous porterez mon nom. Allons, montez ! Je vous emmène au château. Hâtez-vous car je ne souffre pas qu'une femme discute mes desseins ! "
Après avoir craché sur le front de la gueuse restée à terre, d'un coup de talon hautain je fis se cabrer mon destrier. Le bruit de ses sabots sur le pavé recouvrit les sanglots du laideron. Je pris la direction du château au galop, les bras de la belle serrés autour de ma taille.
